PRESIDENT OF HUNGARY PRESENTED THE STATE AWARDS

On August 20, János Áder, the President of Hungary presented the state awards in the Parlament.

Received the Kossuth – Award:

“Dr. Irén Lovász folk singer, ethnographer, outstanding artist, associate professor of  Art Studies and General Humanities of Károli Gáspár University, Budapest, for her outstanding career in performing arts especially valuable for Hungary, and also as acknowledgement of her lifetime work in performing arts, in research and in pedagogy. “

Irén Lovász was  honored with the recognition on the 15th of March 2021, on the National Holiday.

The prestigious Kossuth Prize, a recognition of outstanding cultural achievements, and the Széchenyi Prize for scientific work, are traditionally handed over on the March 15 national holiday.

The Kossuth Prize is the topmost acknowledgment by the Hungarian State for work in the field of Hungarian culture. Since 1948, the centenary of the Revolution 15th of March 1848 when the prize was founded for outstanding musicians, artists, poets, actors, the prize has been synonymous with the recognition of a lifetime of work for Hungarian artists.  The President of the Republic of Hungary hands over the prizes upon the Prime Minister’s recommendation since 1990.

 

The government’s operative staff in charge of national holiday events has decided to postpone the award ceremony of the Kossuth and Széchenyi Prizes in the Parlament in view of the new coronavirus.
